The process involves placing custom forms around the tooth, shaped to match its natural contours. Resin is then injected into the forms in a single, seamless layer, bonding securely to the tooth.
When it comes to mercury removal, one of the biggest risks is the potential damage caused by extensive drilling. Traditional crowns often require significant drilling, which can weaken the tooth further and increase the risk of necrosis. However, Bioclear overlays minimize drilling—only the mercury is removed, and the tooth is lightly shaped to ensure optimal bonding. This gentler approach means teeth restored with overlays are less likely to become necrotic and typically experience less post-procedure sensitivity compared to crowns.
